The internet wants me to look at old lobby cards.
First I found this on Etsy and sent out a tweet asking how people would react if they walked into my house and saw that beautifully framed and hanging in a prominent place (Melanie had the best/natural response).
& then I discovered a tumblr devoted to them (the aptly named Lobby Cards tumblr).
As is my way, I looked through the entire archive and saved about 2 thousand images (only a slight exaggeration). I'm going to share some of my favorites over the course of the week.
Today I have some from movies that I (for better or worse) enjoy. They're all linked to the original post.
Read this ("I’m sure by now you have received that charming “Save the date!” card in the shape of a mountain goat from the Captain and his new fiancée, Maria").
Like these guys? Read this book.
The OR-EE-OOOOOs in Wreck-It Ralph were such a nice touch.
So wonderful. So creepy. My twitter profile is now a shrine to a specific character from this film.
I wish that John Travolta wasn't a creep, because it really puts a damper on Grease for me. I've always meant to memorize this dance, but I still haven't gotten around to it. One of the main reasons I don't wear yellow is fear of looking like a pineapple (especially when I had super-white blonde hair for awhile). I learn from Frenchy's mistakes.
Templeton! "A fair is a veritable smorgasbord orgasbord orgasbord". I watched this movie so many times as a child, and I think I mostly did so for this song. I love fairs! And they are smorgasbords.... although I don't scavenge for food in dumpsters and on the ground. Thankfully.
these are so interesting lady. wish they still did these. that mcsweeney's cancelled wedding bit was the bestest. harharhar. laugh riot. your blog always makes my day.
