The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) starring Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire (their last film together).
A few really great musical numbers surrounded by an okay plot. Ginger gets to wear some grade A dresses.
If you can't tell, this is a portrait of the Barkleys with Fred's character as the griddle that creates Ginger's character (a pancake). This very strange piece of art helps lead to the dissolution of their partnership.
Watch the dance number with disembodied shoes here.
"They Can't Take That Away From Me"
Do you ever wish that you could bring an actor from the past into the future and watch them play roles in modern movies? Well, I'd love to see Ginger Rogers play some Kristen Wiig-y role in a modern comedy.
I love the ombre dress (watch it in action here).
